US Naval Civil War Reenactment

What Did the Navy Do?

In some modern high school textbooks the Navy's involvement in the War of the Rebellion is limited to a single two-sentance paragraph, and the Confederate Navy is not even mentioned. And yet the US Navy had 585 ships while the Confederates had over 300.

In this presentation, we'll cover some of the highlights of what the navies did. The British openly supported the Rebels, and World War I, was just seconds away from starting several times during the war. We will cover the seven squadrons and one permanent flotilla, as well as the cruisers of the North and the rebel cruisers and privateers. Presented will also be some speculation as to what might have happened had there been competant leadership at the top of the CSA.
